On the Web: Chris Brogan Buys a Car
Thursday, August 26th, 2010This week, I was fascinated to read a few posts from Chris Brogan about buying a car online. He was approached online by Aaron from Motorphilia after Chris mentioned that he wanted to get a Camaro. The whole concept fascinates me and I especially loved Chris’ follow up interview with Aaron and his philosophy behind selling cars in this manner. Read More

Are You Listening?
Monday, June 7th, 2010The MediaPost posted an article on Friday about a Harris Poll that found a significant proportion of U.S. adults use social media to complain about or pay compliments to brands.
And I am guilty.
Just this last Friday, I went in to a local Salon & Spa to get my hair jazzed up for summer. I love my hair dresser. She doesn’t talk and I love that. It gives me almost 2 hours of complete silence to reflect, make to do lists, and catch up on email. It’s complete bliss.

Foursquare
Monday, May 3rd, 2010I’m kind of addicted to Foursquare. I originally downloaded the app for my iPod Touch several months ago. I didn’t use it very much because I could only check in when I had an available wifi network. Now that I’m cruising around town with my Droid (Deb’s an iPhone, I’m a Droid…it works), it is so much easier to take advantage of this tool. Read More

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010Are you used to the new “Like” buttons all over the former fan pages on Facebook? I wanted to take some time to test drive the feature before I blogged about it and I think I’ve given it a fair go.

Conversation Before Conversion
Monday, April 26th, 2010The best networkers know that conversation come before conversion. Here are a few quick tips to help you get the conversations started.
1. Ask questions.
Obvious, right? I’m amazed at how so many people fail to do this. You might feel uncomfortable using your business space online for chit chat. Just do it..but make it relevant. For example, we’re running a campaign for a company in the family history field. In order to increase customer interaction on Facebook we’ve been asking questions like, “What was your first car?” and “What was your very first job?”. The company is able to build a relationship with their customers and prospective customers while keeping the conversation well within the scope of their business. Note: Did you notice they aren’t “selling” while asking those questions? Read More

Social Media Etiquette 101
Monday, March 22nd, 20101. Don’t be a robot. There are so many applications that allow social media users to automate certain things. I’m a big fan of using the listening tools, but if you use them to broadcast it’s spam. FYI: I don’t need any more “Thanks for the follow, check out my site!” direct messages. Read More

Google Analytics for Beginners
Monday, February 8th, 2010Google Analytics is the most widely used web based analytics around. Setting it up on your website is an easy (and FREE) way to keep tabs on your site statistics. If you’re on a Wordpress blog, there is a plugin that you can use to put the code into your site. Because of its ease of use, it has become an essential tool for serious (or curious) bloggers and marketers.
Why bother?
